2 4 the chop
Today we had our tree surgeons in to begin a few days of tree removal at Arduaine. These two huge leylandiis (x Cupressocyparis leylandii) had been planted right behind our house and were far too big and far too close, so down they came today, piece by piece. There's very little chance to fell anything here as there's so much under planting nearby, or in this case, a house!
We'll be taking down some sycamores and larch too, to allow more light into newer plantings. They expect to take down two larches tomorrow, though I have my doubts as they're in excess of 120ft high and will have to be dismantled in very small pieces to avoid damaging the shrubs below. Sounds like a fun day as we'll all have to join in to remove the 'arisings' and burn them!
