City jobs

I emerged from the station today to find a row of Christmas stalls aligned in the pedestrian precinct. I think Christmas cheer maybe is in short supply at this early stage of proceedings from the glum faces of the stallholders. The thought of standing out in the cold between now and Christmas might have something to do with it.

The other outdoor city worker is a builder from the £79 million Technology and Innovation Centre opposite my workplace. It is almost completed and the men in hard hats will soon disappear. On reflection I think he is probably the happier individual as his job will keep him on the move and he's not dependent on customer whim. Selling tea cakes and snowballs on a windy Glasgow Street must be a hard graft.
