Juvenile blackbird enjoying the early evening sun
This little fella has been hopping around our garden for the past week getting used to independent life from the nest. Initially we heard him calling quite desperately for it’s parents who occasionally come and provide some much appreciated worms, but now five days later, he seems much more accustomed to being on his own.
I just caught him taking respite in the early evening sun tonight (New Zealand time) on the fence at the bottom of our garden that adjoins the Waikanae river reserve. Being a juvenile (blackbird I think) he stayed long enough to get a few decent shots.
