Times Of My Life

Butternuts!

I'm not being insulting, honest. Just that I have been home all day today, as I woke up feeling hellish this morning, and phoned in sick.

Nothing much to blip, but I had bought this bag of sweeties for Mum when I was in Inverness. We found a real old fashioned sweet shop, with big glass jars full of all the old favourites: soor plooms, cinnamon balls, rhubarb and custard, mixed boilings, hoarhound, liquorice comfits, etc.

I asked him if by any chance he had any Butternuts, which were, along with Oddfellows and Pandrops, the three staple sweets I remember Mum and Dad ever buying. I hadn't seen them for years and years.

So - that's it really. Mum's present from Inversnecky; a bag of sweets, now being eaten by her coughing, sneezing, sweating daughter.

Nice.
