Where the River Meets the Sea
Trip to Stornoway this afternoon, and on such a beautiful November day it was impossible to resist the urge to take a wee hike up to the Lewis War Memorial to enjoy the stunning views. I think this one is always my favourite given my love of all things coastal - its a unique habitat, where the river meets the sea. Sheep grazing on the salty grassland at the front, river water meanders it's way onto the sands creating natural patterns as it goes. In the distance is Point, an "almost island" reached via the Braighe, which connects Point to stornoway.
