Water

California is in it's third year of a drought.
We have water restrictions in place - we only water the garden three times a week, we have removed several water thirsty plants and replaced with cacti and succulents, we combine loads of laundry and dishwasher like never before, we re-use water from washing up and left over drinking bottles whenever possible.
We see water flooding the street from less considerate neighbours, a huge number of people taking part in ice water challenges and just throwing water away.
Today was national recycling day. We recycle our cans and bottles and paper. I have a bag of clothes to drop off at the box, a box of goodies to pass on to a charity shop, a box of old batteries for the box in the library.
And yet tomorrow I'm heading out shopping to buy new stuff because I haven't found a reusable / recyclable component to store shoes and clothing whilst resisting winds, damp (?) and unwanted visitors - including a four year old eager to find her Christmas presents.
