Matreshka Festival (again)
Had a super relaxed morning/early afternoon just getting ready for a new week. I then checked the timings of the programme for the music part of the Russian festival and realised we had just over an hour to get ourselves down there, so made a mad dash for it.
De ja vu... the lady who helped G paint her little Matroushka doll was there again, so this time, G painted the 2 smaller ones to fit inside! It was ace - and nice to see so many young kids wanting to give it a try, though few had any idea how much patience is required.
My blip is of the central area of Wafi Mall where the main events of the Festival have been held. Notice the dolls. They're big, in fact, happened to notice that various bits of a/v gear is stored in them!! Got to watch/listen to a Russian acoustic guitarist who played and sang really well and though I didn't understand a word he sang; I realised that at the end of the day - music is music and when played well, transcends all borders/culture. SO GLAD I live in such an international city. Think we may have heard at the end of the children's dancing performance that this is to happen again next year. Can't wait. Until then, Global Village started last week, and it will only be a matter of time before G & I visit...
