Trench
.... completed at long last! This has been an on going project at work since the summer, every spare moment has been spent on the construction of various parts of the trench. Ruth, creative director and all round genius, was frequently found on the floor with glue, scissors, cardboard and A3 sheets of printed card making the planks, even the borrowers got quite use to Lynn in any spare moment making sand bags and on seeing me emerge from the basement with hands cover in grey gunk my colleagues soon stopped asking, what on earth have you been doing? and would just look knowingly and say, barbed wire! I think I had the most fun and messiest job although there were weeks when my nails were permanently stained with grey paint. This week saw Ruth put everything together to create this fantastic trench to promote the many World War 1 activities that the library are hosting and our on going project to build a history of the lives of local people during the war.
There will be more pictures of the trench, at least one highlighting the magnificent barbed wire, I may even have to try and sabotage the lighting as I'm not sure it's very easy to switch off those terrible lights!
