Rainbow at Tauranga, NZ

I know this is early in the UK but it's been a long day and my wifi is going to be brief. I have had to use a shot from my iPad as cannot download anything from my camera because the wifi source is so fragile. So I may not have chosen the best pic but I wanted to post.

So what a day! I was up early and packed and breakfasted by 9.05. The car hire company had arranged to pick me up at 9.30 am. First mistake. No one came and after some ringing from my apartment they came at 10.30. When I got there they told me they had run out of SATNAVs. Immediate panic. No maps and a trip across Auckland to meet an old friend S, before setting off, to appease me they gave me a new car, but to be honest I was not bothered and a bit fed up by now. They printed off the directions to my friend and I set off. Half an hour later I arrived back at the car hire place. I tried a second time. Eventually lost somewhere down a cul de sac I asked someone. (I am a man and asking someone directions is not in my genes!) helpfully they set me on my way and at sometime after 12 I got there. I had planned to be travelling by 11!

Good news was S had a spare SATNAV so sigh of relief. I spent an hour with him and his somewhat chaotic family and left them to celebrate an anniversary. SATNAV worked and I headed for Tauranga.

It rained all the way there and there was simply nothing good to capture or when I saw something I could not park. As I neared Tauranga, the sun suddenly peaked through. I said to myself rainbow, turned the corner and there was a rainbow. Mad dash to a parking spot but the rainbow had gone. Again it appeared again I lost it. This was redolent of my early bird mishaps. I longed for my hide!

Anyway turning another corner I saw the rainbow again and parked up on the side. I took loads of pics on my camera and just as insurance a few on the iPad thank goodness!

Anyway I had planned to lunch in Tauranga but had eaten it as I drove along and I was going to take more pics but it was now 3 pm so drove straight on to Taupo. It started to rain again and I thought I was going to capture nothing. I got better at finding spots to stop and took quite a few as the weather lightened up into early evening. Taupo is fantastic. It has an enormous lake which I took in the evening light and hope, if the weather holds, to capture its blueness tomorrow.

It has been a mixed day. But I have just had a great T-bone steak. I rarely have such steaks but I needed comfort food.

It's 9.10 pm here so 8.10 in the morning in UK. Whilst I have internet I will send.

Another day,s travelling tomorrow down to my friends in Waikanae. I have all day and no rush so if I get good weather some snapping is in order. I am pleasantly tired now! Good night all.
