Over the Horizon

Warmi kocha

The rain cleared, the sun came out, and the breeze blew like a whisper over the grass. We packed our bags and left Rumi Loma. This time out the road was strong, without water to transform the ruts into wallows we made it out without a hitch. We took our time driving back, stopping to take a picture at a dried up lake bed far down one of the valleys. The twin lake beds of Warmi and Wari Kocha, meaning woman and man lake in Kichwa. We watched the puna hawks soar over the valley meadows and cows browse the clover. There were furry pigs along the roadside, campesinos hanging up laundry outside of adobe huts, and big billowy afternoon clouds. When we got back to Cuenca we unpacked and all I remember is a sleepy afternoon.

We couldn't help jumping out of the truck to pose for a shot in the meadow is was such a sunny fine day. This is Jessie, Bonnie, Intefada, and Hannah. Life is good and we sure can't complain. Nuff said.
