Spindle berries
Atrocious weather this morning and early afternoon - low cloud, heavy rain and wind. We went down to Wooler again this afternoon and, although the rain had just about stopped, some of the roads en route were more like rivers!
By late afternoon the rain had stopped altogether and the wind died down, so we walked round the pond on Wooler Common. These bright pink berries and orange seeds on a tree beside the path were almost luminous at dusk - but I used flash to get this shot. Still drops of water dripping from the seeds. [Google tells me that they're berries and seeds of the Spindle tree, apparently quite common in Britain, though I don't remember seeing them before.]
Back home via the fish & chip shop in Belford. The weekend starts here!
