Lethargy

Feeling pretty crook this morning, but I was determined to get out for some fresh air so I swung my leg over the bike and headed down the River Almond. I wasn't really sure where I was going, but when I got to Cramond I saw that the tide was right out so I crossed the path to the island that was once a roman stronghold. The concrete pillars you see are the remains of a submarine boom that was built to keep those sneaky Germans from scraping their subs into the Forth estuary. Lots of folk out and about today and I spoke to them all on the way over to the island. 13 people and of them 12 were tourists!

I was disappointed by the amount of vandalism in the buildings and I wondered what the tourists felt after they had taken the trouble to go that far?

Bag on the bike to wheeze and cough my way back home. I think I'll learn more about the romans and why they wanted to come to Scotland and what they did when they got here. It must have been a pretty overwhelming urge to leave the South of Italy to set up home at Cramond!
