Old College
It's Monday morning, it's 6:30 am , so it must be gym time. Having joined the New Gym at Quartermile, it is encumbent on me to go at least once a week and I felt that a Monday visit would start the week off well.
The desire to stay put in a nice warm bed was almost overwhelming today, but I forced myself to get up and get out.
Of course once you're on your way, it all seems better, and after an hour ( well, ok, make it 40 minutes), of intense aerobic activity, the feel good endorphins kick in and you wonder why you ever thought to opt out.
While I was stepping my way to the stars on the stepping machine, I watched a young woman being put through her paces by a personal trainer. I felt I could have added at least another 1000 calories to my work out by just looking at what she was being asked to do: squats, lunges, press ups, pumping weights, running and stepping. Goodness knows what she has to pay for the agony.
Then afterwards a walk to get some stationery in the grey murkiness of an anticyclonic Edinburgh, knowing that there are blue skies in Glasgow. Finally home to the castle to move dust from surface to surface and do a spot of tidying before a friend comes a-visiting this afternoon.
The blip is of the street entrance to Old College. I felt if you can't beat 'em , join em, so the two pedestrians spoiling my view have become part of it.
