Saughtonhall
I park my car near this street every work day. It's very close to Murrayfield Stadium and has played a big part in Weegie history.
My middle sister shared a house in this street with a number of people for about 4 or 5 years. Oh the TALES it can tell !
There was the lodger who moved in with her Golden Labrador, and her dog produced a litter of puppies a few days later. 'Uncle' Ian lived in the attic room, he slept on a mattress on the floor and grew 'herbal' plants (purely for scientific reasons Officer). Or what about the guitar star next door to my sister's room, who only played numbers from the 'Police'!
Then Jane moved in downstairs, a 'trolly dolly' on the Diamond Service to London, she brought glamour to the house.
Notoriously, the room with the Muppet wallpaper had a quiet incumbent who in later years became a murderer.
There was always loads of people staying over at weekends, we often went out in a big crowd and spent long Sundays reading the Sunday Sport, eating huge fried breakfasts and nursing hangovers.
And then there were the parties. I met Mr S at a party here. He was Uncle Ian's pal, and my sister had him lined up for her pal Sharon - until I intervened.
He didn't have a chance.
Maybe we should put a plaque on the wall?
