Colditz

Deep in former East-Germany, this castle is situated on top of a hill. It was a castle like many of them in Germany, until it became world famous as a prisoner of war camp for allied officers during WW-II. Only officers known for their escape attempts were held here. Of course they tried it here as well. The castle is still there, although in a different function. It is a Youth Hostel now. If you're interested in the history of Colditz, read this
