How Green is My Valley

This is not a great shot but the high, sea mist seen on the right has moved in and I can't do another.

This is the view I see when I open the bedroom shutters in the morning. There is a barely visible villa with cypress trees below and the walled city of Lucca is in the distance. Like all such views, it changes constantly and at times is not there at all. Snow is forecast for tomorrow so perhaps it will be white again.

All of the hills around are extinct volcanoes. At one time in the distant past this must have been a very hostile scene.

The best time is mid-May to mid-June when the scent of jasmine fills the room when the shutters are opened.
