Philae!

Exciting stuff watching the coverage of the European Space Agency landing Philae on a comet, a spectacular achievement. For all that the development of manned space exploration has been a disappointment compared to the expectations we had in the giddy days of Gemini and Apollo the unmanned programs have been extraordinary. Can't wait for the next step.

This morning I woke up to find I was at a low ebb physically, the horrible dark day outside seemed to mirror what was going on internally. Took some more morphine and pushed on with stuff regardless, in the end the day turned out better than it started. Made an effort to sit up and make some music then watched one of my favourite old British films "Odd Man Out (1947), brilliantly directed by Carol Reed and with an ensemble of some of the best character actors of that generation, supporting James Mason as a doomed IRA man in Belfast, umpteenth time I've watched it and it didn't disappoint.
