Wick

A strange day.

Great Rotary breakfast meeting, with a buzz about the success of Saturday's fundraiser (see my Blip that day). Almost £1,200 raised for local charities. An enjoyable talk about heraldry from guest speaker Dr Bruce Durie - TV & radio presenter, distinguished academic and occasional beer scoofer.

Some rough stuff all day at work. Doing 8 trade mark registrations online was the easy bit.

I went for a walk along the seafront in Dysart about 6 - in the dark, the rain, the wind and the spray from the surf. It worked. Cobwebs blown away.

On the way home I found my Blip. Dr D is a big fan of Old Pulteney. Distilled way up north in Wick - by a company which was a client a few decades back, as it happens. She's really a Speyside person like me, so the "maritime" malt is out of character.

The brand seems to be getting a marketing push. I saw it in duty free at Munich Airport for the first time last week. The billboard in the Blip reinforces the impression.

I may have a Glenfarclas later.

Today I've also had a strong desire to be somewhere with daylight, or even sunshine. This is the best I could do.
