Massachusetts State House
We awoke early to the most beautiful sunrise over Boston Harbour. I was expecting fog but it was a sunny and clear day, crisp and cold. They are expecting their first snowfall by tomorrow morning so I was grateful to have the good weather today.
I went on the Trolley Tour of the city and I was the only one on the bus! It was very interesting giving much information about the history of the city, and about the 'sons of liberty' who rose up against the oppressive British! Paul Revere is much revered here, as is George Washington.
I then wandered around taking in the sights of Beacon Hill, saw the bar where Cheers was filmed and am now about to go visit Harvard.
This is Massachusetts State House, the state capitol and house of government of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, located in the Beacon Hill. The building houses the Massachusetts General Court (state legislature) and the offices of the Governor of Massachusetts. It was completed in 1798.
We fly home tonight and it has been a wonderful short break.
