Any biscuits for us?

Today I went to the woods to help with rhododendron clearance.  These ducks waddled up.  A lot of fisherman use the lake in the woods and I guess they have been fed by them. They rushed into the lake for bits of sandwich and biscuits but ignored my apple core.  How can they tell from the shore.   Anyone know what type of duck they are?
