Making history

After a terrible night's sleep in the noisiest hotel I have ever slept in (bedroom on the ground floor NEXT to the kitchen which seemed to be manned all night!!!) I had actually had a really fun day today.

Got to the RNW studios in Hilversum which is the media park in Amsterdam and went straight into the studio to watch the TV show I'll be working on being recorded for the BBC.

It's political satire about Africa and is a mix of serious opinions and sketches (see sketch pic attached of a Nigerian army officer!)

I was even drafted in to do hair and make-up at one stage and ended up chopping a wig into a bob and applying make-up to a man I only met last night to make him too like a British Baroness! That was surreal.

Met lots of interesting people and news reporters at the studios. They are located in the middle of woods by a lake so they all stay there for lunch and eat on long trestle tables in the lobby. It beats a sandwich at your computer that's for sure!

My flight home went quickly as I was absorbed in a book (My Husband's Secret - I found out his secret!) and am now trying out the new Manchester Airport tram home to beat the rush hour traffic and see Squidge before she goes to bed. God I've missed her but it was almost worth going away for the "I wuv you Mummy" I got on the phone this morning at breakfast!
