Geomantic Fortune telling machine.

Apparently if you put in someone's date of birth, and a few other miscellaneous pieces of information then press the button this wonderful machine will tell their fortune.

The British Museum is a wonderful place, full of things to delight and bewilder and educate.

They have a Mayan room with turquoise masks and statues. The exhibit has pottery and a replica codex. It educates about the Mayan's warlike character, their belief in bloodletting to induce a trance state and give the ability to consult with ancestors.

Last year I was in New York and went to the Met, I decided to visit their Mayan room. Twenty two glass cases of funereal gold. Not one bit of pottery, not one statue, not a single piece of information on Mayan beliefs, their calendar or their everyday lives.

I was sadly disappointed in the Met, so I'll just have to keep going back to the good old BM.
