We will remember them....

Yes we will remember them, those who didn't make it and those who survived.

Pictures is my little home-made crocheted poppy a friend made me, of course I always buy the Haig fund paper ones too, in fact I've probably bought more than dozen over the last week, some are crumpled up and I always like a fresh one, including a nice British Legion pin. My Granda if he was alive would be 118yrs old today on his birthday. I was 9 when he died, although I remember him fondly and that's 31yrs ago. He also fought in WWI, survived the horrendous Battle of the Somme.

The 11th has always been a poignant date with it celebrating the end of WWI and being my Granda's birthday.....he might not have liked to talk about his experience in the war and what he witnessed as a young man as his comrades lay day in the trenches around him, but he went on to live a long happy life.

One thing I do know, without him surviving none or us would be here today. My Mum, her sisters, brother, their children, grandchildren, my Mum and all of us and her grandchildren.

Yes today I am thankful......❤️
