Oops

............. today we had the normal email saying that there would be an announcement and that we would be observing the 2 min silence at 11. But unfortunately they discovered (way after 11) the PA system in my area wasn't working and we were so busy no-one noticed until I piped up saying its 11.24 *hangs head in shame* - to be fair I was so tired since Apache had me up 4 yes 4 times last night for a split second I thought I'd fallen asleep and missed it.

I don't really like poetry but this is one poem I've always loved and even reading it in July brings tears to my eyes:-

In Flanders Fields, by John McRae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
