A day in London ...

Armistice Day. The eleventh day of the eleventh month, a day for reflection and remembrance. The start of World War One was 100 years ago, but an even more significant centenary will be in 2018, when we will commemorate the ending of 'The war to end all wars'. If only.

I spent today in central London, where Kia was staging the launch of the Soul EV. Another day, another electric car. This was the view from my hotel room this morning, with one of the chunky launch cars alongside a distinctive statue in the hotel courtyard.

It is a while since I have spent a day driving in central London, and it was a stark reminder of how coagulated the traffic has become. Our average speed on a trip around the capital and out to Blackheath and back was 9 mph.
