Remembrance - another view
Even though we're abroad it still seemed right to join the Remembrance in the village. We ambled into town around 10:30 to find huge crowds, far bigger than we'd even considered. It's a national holiday here in France & most everyone turns out - I've never seen any village so well represented. The number of veterans, uniforms & medals was astounding.
It was difficult to make a connection as we simply couldn't get near or hear a thing, so we observed, paid our silent respects and went on our way.
This evening walking back to the apartment the memorial was proudly lit, the flowers all freshly planted - this seemed a far more fitting blip than a picture of people's backs in a crowd.
