Diary of an Edinburgher

A splash of red...

‘Let’s get a splash of red in the garden’ I said to Archie...

'Good idea!' said he...

Little did he know that I meant HIM. His happy, dashing, prancing and playing around all morning self stopped immediately. As I put his lovely new red polo neck jumper on him, he stood like a statue, staring straight ahead. He had to be carried out. And carried in again. Maybe he’s getting used to it…

I couldn't go to my Zoo Day (again) because Jason the plumber had to come back this morning - we sprang a leak last night… Well, the new radiator did. I panicked and switched the boiler off as it was making funny noises and I thought all the water had drained out. Not helped by Archie who barked really fiercely at the strange sounds coming from the cupboard where his kibble is kept. Could someone or something be interfering with his precious food??

So we were not able to have a shower this morning. Funny how a little thing like that ensures a Very Bad Start to the day, when really, so many people don’t even have such a luxury.

Tennis beckons this afternoon, with the new radiator blasting out, leak-less.

With perhaps a Snickers Bar to keep me going.

Just missed a terrific Remembrance Day shot. A soldier in a red uniform filled the TV screen, playing the Last Post. Archie stopped right in front, put his feet up on the TV table, cocked his head and listened.
