Budapest: Széchenyi Chain Bridge & Gresham Palace
Széchenyi Chain Bridge
Opened in 1849, and the first permanent bridge linking Buda and Pest. It was designed by an English engineer, William Tierney Clark, and shipped in sections from the United Kingdom to Hungary for final construction.
Gresham Palace Hotel
Built in 1906 in art nouveau style on the Pest (Eastern) side of the Danube. It was the prestigious foreign headquarters of Gresham Life Assurance Company.
A hotel since 2004 after costly restoration works. The cost of a night's stay here ranges from 300 to 2,500 euros.
