Looking up
A tourist admiring the roof of the Aya Sofya, one of Turkey's most famous buildings.
Originally built as a church in 537AD it remained a place of Christian worship until the Conquest of Constantinople in 1453, when Mehmet the Conqueror took possession of it for Islam and converted it into a mosque.
Its now neither, having been designated a museum by Ataturk in 1934. Its undergoing a massive restoration programme, which means there's a lot of scaffolding about. Never mind - its a truly awe inspiring place. I'm not surprised she was transfixed.
Didn't rain and the bags arrived today, so all good.
