Infinity pool at the top of a Waterfall
I had a very "Last of the Mohicans' moment on Saturday- it started with us trying to find this waterfall all day.....
Staying in the town of Tad Lo, Laos, there are three waterfalls in the area. The first two were in easy reach of our guesthouse, the third we were warned was difficult to find by foot as there wasn't really a path. Our host assured us that he had made some signs to help guide the way but did emphasise that it was tricky. Never ones to decline a challenge, we set off ready to see the trio of waterfalls. One and two were very easy. To reach number three we continued up river, passing a small Laotian village where (idiotically) we declined the offer of a guide to the falls. An hour and a half later, surrounded by elephant grass, me sneezing with hayfever, sweating profusely we decided we needed to turn back if we were to make it back to the town before nightfall. By this stage I had reached 'summit fever' point and was determined to find the falls. Our host, again gave us 'easy' directions to reach is by moto. This time we found ourselves at the foot of the falls (whoop), an impressive sheer rock face about 40metre high. The water coming over was not so impressive and we had been told that the top of the falls was the place to be. Patience running thin, I pleaded for a final go to try and get to the top. Back onto the moto we drove up the mountain, finally seeing signs down a bumpy track to the the top of the falls. Fifty steps later we made it, our view opened out across the landscape we had battled all day. Our reward, a natural infinity pool to cool down in, with the soundtrack of Last of the Mohicans playing in my head!
