happy wee cuddly wee thing

No shoes for this one yet, as he has yet to walk and it was pissing it down for most of the time we were wandering around a different West Lothian tourist-attracting thing with a set of grandparents for a first birthday. He was perhaps a bit too young to appreciate that the things being flung to the meerkats were small dead baby chickens but seemed quite pleased to see some otters and some parrots and a big hairy pig. This was mostly communicated through pointing and the foot-waggling thing he does when trapped in the pushchair.

He's started saying something which approximates "cuddle" to go with "hiyaaaa" and "Edgar! Edgar! Edgar! EDGAR!" along with a few other not-repeated-often-enough-to-confirm things like maybe-"porridge" or possibly-"fridge" and is mixing-up the signs for "please" and "more" but shows promise at one day being comprehensible and comprehending. He seemed suitably concerned at the fizzing candle-sparkler thing 'his' cake was decorated with in the afternoon, sensibly cringing away from the sparks which reached a greater height than him.

He's recently started doing a thing whereby he tests or demonstrates the softness of an encountered object by stopping and gently resting his cheek on it, smiling happily. It's usually either cushions his brother has thrown onto the floor, a toy monkey or the seat of the sofa, though he can occasionally be persuaded to do it on legs or shoulders or heads, which is almost as nice to observe as to support.
