Day 3
We have left Nasby, and drove for hour and half to Tailings hut were we would stay or one or 2 nights, a local in Nasby said that the road was a bit narly a new word for us and yes it was a bit like that. On the way we spotted this mining area can't really miss it, Mt Buster diggings, In the 1860s, gold was found within Oteake, at Guffies Creek and on the flanks of Mt Buster. At 1200 metres, the Buster Diggings became the country’s highest altitude gold workings. Further evidence of Oteake’s gold mining past is the network of water races, including the Scandinavian Water Race feeding the St Bathans workings and the Mount Ida Government Water Race.
As you can see there is still some snow hanging around it's quite amazing that all the way up there there is this, it would be very hot up here in the summer, from here we found the hut, got our selves set up for the night then went off to find the river,.
