Appropriate artwork

Visit to Morecambe this morning. Some of our old seaside towns have declined and are sad places out of season. Morecambe has done better than some. The complete restoration of the famous Art Deco Midland Hotel was a great boost. But much more has been done especially with sculptures like these on the pier and promenade.

It is sad that a few weeks ago the statue of the town's most famous son, Eric Morecambe, was badly damaged. We are promised that it will be back before Christmas. Thousands come to see and photograph it.

We are told that the repair will be so good that as Eric used to say to Ernie Wise re his hair piece - you can't see the join.
