Duke and Duchess

We went to an antiques and collectibles show today, where I saw these two wonderful statues. They are done in bronze and depict two whippets, Duke and Duchess. Commissioned by a man for his daughter's birthday, the sculptor measured the dogs so each statue would be accurate. They were made in 1930. The asking price was $8,500 the pair; the dealer wouldn't separate them, which seems only fitting.
