Not-so-wildfire

There’s nothing quite like sitting in front of a fire with a brew - something way too long overdue in my life until today. There’s something that insights a primitive allure to fire that I don’t believe anybody can deny. Sitting sophisticatedly around a chiminea blazing bright in the night; watching the process of combustion can be a nice bonding experience. I get restless watching even an hour of TV, but put me in front of a fire and I could be there all night - sitting, chatting and relaxing whilst the process of combustion consumes it’s supply of burnable material to create an awe-inspiring and energetic performance of light that warms your face. It’s destruction meeting creation which truly beautiful and wholly captivating.

Unlike sitting in front of the box, sitting in front of a fire doesn’t deny you the ability to ponder and talk - or even ponder and sit in silence without it feeling awkward, if you so wish. Fire doesn’t just keep your hands warm, it keeps you mind active. Plus, I’m not going to lie, it’s definitely fun to play with. Especially when you’ve got heavy duty fire-retardant gloves to really get stuck in with. It’s exciting and relaxing all at the same time. I think I’ll soon be investing in a chiminea for myself, long before I’ll be investing in any form of television set.
