Sunday: Maksimir Park

It was an overcast but dry day so we went for a walk in Maksimir Park to blow away some Sunday cobwebs.  The colours were just lovely - I suspect they will only be like this for another week or so and then all the trees will be naked.

We also went to the zoo in the park - we knew it was there but had never been.  I suspect our feelings about zoos are the same as most peoples.  In some limited circumstances, I can see that research programmes and conservation are for the greater good, but, as a place to keep animals for curiosity purposes, I am not a fan.  We went because it was there but don't feel the need to go back.  The animals were all well enough but the panther enclosure, for example, was smaller than that of some exotic birds.........so we have crossed Zagreb zoo off the list of things to do.

Later this afternoon, we met our friend, Morana, for a coffee, and that concludes this weekend!

I can really recommend this video of Toronto-based photographer, Colin Boyd Shafer, who has made it his mission to take portraits of people from every country in the world who now live in Toronto.  It has reminded me yet again of how great photography projects can be.
