"VERA"
Well throughout the summer I have been trying to get to see the last two remaining Avro Lancaster Bombers flying together. I've seen them at a couple of events, and been luck enough to see them fly past my office, but I've never got a really close up pic until today!
After getting back from Sheffield early, only to discover that the haircut my eldest daughter so desperately wanted has been cancelled earlier that morning. In fact before we left Sheffield. I convinced my Hubbie to take me to his gun club at North Cotes for him to go on the range and me to see if I could get a sighting of Vera and Thumper as they did a flypast at RAF North Cotes memorial service. Little did I know that they would bank right around me giving me a clear an wonderful view of these glorious aircraft.
This photograph is of Vera, the Canadian Lancaster Bomber from Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum . She was flying in tandem with our own Avro Lancaster from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight . Apologies for not showing Thumper but I can catch up with this beautiful plane when I next visit the BBMF. If you can't wait until then visit my Flickr Page
For the full story of this years wonderful tribute to those who fought in WWI and WWII. Visit the web site/blog of Lisa Harding, She has covered it brilliantly.
