Woodland walk

A good stride around the woods around campus at lunchtime was really heartening, as there was so much noise of birdsong, wind in the trees and rustling of leaves. Noise amongst silence was the phrase that sprung to my mind.

After seeing J last night I found myself looking up not 'liver cancer' but 'hospice' and the first thing I read was really lovely. It described 'hospice' as not so much a physical place (although it was usually considered to be such) as more a holistic system of care, focusing on the patient and their family and carers. It's wonderful that we not only have an excellent hospice here in Norwich but that it's also just around the corner from where J's home is, which will make home visits for him all that easier.

He's getting lots of love and support from his neighbours, his friends from his church community and from us lot from choir and the LGBT community. On Monday evenings on Future Radio is a programme called 'Pride Live' and every now and again they invite people to record a Desert Island Discs style programme called 'My Pride Life' where they choose 6 records and explain why they are important to them. J did his broadcast a while ago and this coming Monday it's going to be broadcast again. When Di, the woman who is one of the presenters on Pride Live told him about this he was absolutely delighted. Hopefully he'll be able to listen to it on his headphones.

I wonder if the hospice knows that they have a radio star in their midst?
