I'd hoped for a white Christmas and I certainly go

Riding through the snow, on a pushbike is what Dutch people had, grown a little less used to, I believe.
They still DO make much use of the bicycle, but this amount of snow, this year was apparently unusual.
It certainly made for great opportunities to take photos.
