The Old Tanneries

About 2 miles east of Chania there is a large industrial area on the sea shore near Kouloura which was built in the early 1800's just for the leather industry. Most of the buildings are derelict but one or two still produce good quality hides.
It is quite smelly hereabouts! These hides are sitting out in the sun waiting for the next process.
