Clyde Bridges 1
Went for a cycle along the Clyde Walkway this lunchtime - the objective was to get as far as the river's newest bridge (for the M74, still under construction), but I only got as far as here, where power lines cross the river.
It's slightly alarming going along the walkway beyond Glasgow Green - not because you're in the East End, though it must be said, the only other people I encountered were a trio of blokes with a pack of husky-like dogs. No, it's the fact that they've massively deforested the banks - a huge number of trees have been felled.
Anyway, this is the most upriver bridge still within the Glasgow Boundary - the Dalmarnock Bridge. There's been a bridge here since 1821 - prior to that people used a ford nearby. This is the third bridge, although it could be called the fourth since it was massively refurbished in 1997.
