Times Of My Life

Bolognese night

Poor Mr D had to go down to that England-shire place today, for some kind of training presentation ( really a peon towards Sell-Sell-Sell).

This renders me a single women for the night, and I'm taking full advantage! I used some of my considerable Time Off In Lieu (Toil) balance to finish early - what a total luxury! I was home before 4pm (usually not home until at least 7.30pm), and took Rocky out for a walk in the miserable greyness which has never lifted all day.

When we got home, I had a quick wheech (pr. wh-eech as in l-och) round the house with the wee boy Dyson, (check out the C59 on the Dyson website), and put some washing in the machine. Next, I made a huge pot of Bolognese with many many mushrooms, which Mr D hates!

It's bubbling away now on the stove as I am doing my blipping, and checking my emails. I was totally delighted to find an email from an old pal I had lost touch with, and thought I wouldn't hear from again.

Tomorrow I am having lunch with another friend who is usually up to her eyes in looking after old folk with dementia, and I'm really looking forward to having some time to spend with her. We used to go to the Gymn on a Sunday morning and did a Bodypump class and then had a wee swim.

It's too easy for women to give up their own time and leisure activities, and spend it all on caring for others and looking after old relatives and kids. Sometimes we need to be a bit selfish, and just do stuff for ourselves.

Now I am off to have a lovely bowl of Bolognese, and a glass of a nice red wine, while watching a couple of episodes of The Walking Dead (absolutely the best thing on telly - ever!), and then after taking Rocky out for another walk, he and I will head off to bed together!

For all those people who think it is disgusting to let a dog share your bed, let me tell you there is no better hot water bottle than a Jack Russell curled up at your feet on a cold night!

Night all.
