Persimmon
This is a cross section of a ripe persimmon shortly before I devoured it.
I am very fond of a ripe persimmon but also very particular.
I allow it to ripen over several weeks until so soft it almost collapses on itself. In this case the fruit flies were circling around like mini vultures.
Persimmons are know by quite a few names, Kaki or Kakee from the species Diospyros kaki, or Sharon fruit, the marketing name for the Israeli version, from the Plain of Sharon, plus other exotic names.
To me however, just plain persimmon.
