Feeling peckish

Not a great weather day in the Houston area today. Very grey and wet. We were up in The Woodlands for a couple of appointments (one medical – Leejohnaire having his chemo pump disconnected – and one non-medical).

As some of you will know from my previous blips, one of my favourite bird species is herons. I didn’t venture outdoors today because of the rain, but I found a heron nonetheless. We popped into the large shopping mall near the hospital, for a quick bite, where this rather strange heron sculpture looms over the passing shoppers. There are small, manmade areas of water nearby but otherwise, I’ve never really understood the relevance of the sculpture and I would think its foot being oddly full of small creatures could be rather disturbing for any little kids that spot it. Otherwise, it did at least give me my heron fix, so the day wasn't a complete washout!
