Day One - Greater Himalayas

A two day jeep ride will take us to Leh, cutting through the Greater Himalayas and over four high passes (4900m). Utterly beautiful but exhaustingly spine-jangling, I don't think we'll forget this ride in a hurry. Day one we crossed the infamously unpredictable Rohtang Pass, which normally suffers unseasonable snow and major landslides, that can close it for days (or weeks) before it finally closes for good at the end of September. We only passed one petrol station, and there’s no other petrol station for another 365km. After 139km, and about 6 hours of holding on, we arrived at our night spot, Jispa.
