Young Sherpanis

Our guide's daughter and friend might miss us tomorrow as we have been here for 3 days. One wonders what kind of life these youngsters are going to have and what will eventually happen to their village if all the youngsters go to Kathmandu to train as nurses or tour guides like their big sisters. Life in the Khumbu villages is so hard, 6 months of winter effectively and 2 months of monsoon in the summer, impossible to appreciate how people survive in these beautiful, but remote, places. We come, we take photos, we trek and are self satisfied but do we leave much of value behind?
