wild cattle.

On the other side of our harbour, opposite to where the town of Raglan is,there is a large area of uninhabited land which is comprised of huge sand dunes which are covered in gorse and lupins.Prior to Europeans arriving there were many Maori living there as it had fertile soil for their crops and abundant shell-fish on the coast. Now the only inhabitants are a mob of wild cattle which, sadly, are charging through the ancient Maori food pits and the middens made of the shells of the food they ate.
