Earth Star Fungi
Went to Wisley Gardens today specifically to photograph earth stars. I was about 2 weeks to late as they were past their best. They are quite a rare fungi. The spores are dispersed when rain hits the cup round the bottom and then the spore sack or the spore sack directly whereby they puff out of the small hole in the top and are carried away by the wind.
