Disappointing news last night. Tim's lady friend, we'll call her Andrea as that is the name her mother gave her has backed out of the Xmas meal. Reason given is that she has a school do the night before, and oh, just to be clear, she is a teaching assistant, not a pupil! I think the truth is that she has some anxiety issues that make her uncomfortable in unfamiliar groups. Either way, I feel very sorry for Tim. This would have been his first Xmas meal with the group where he wasn't the lone male and now it's not going to happen. She's lucky to have found him, because unlike some men, he will stick by her. I hope she is as willing to work on the relationship as he is.
