Portrait(s) of the Artist

When I blipped David Hoyle on Friday I mentioned that I was planning to attend an event today at which he'd discuss his life and art. And so I did!

It was a very moving, emotional and inspiring experience at which David talked frankly about his mental health and its relationship to his art. A relationship clearly evident in this self-portrait painted on medication instructions. Thanks once again to David for striking a pose for me and for his assertion that "Depression is a by-product of capitalism". I think he's right.


I'm back-blipping this on Monday. I'm down in London for a few days as my dad's been taken rather poorly and is currently in hospital where he's making positive progress. I'm unlikely to have much opportunity to spend time online until later in the week so I'll do my best to catch up with you all in a few days. Meantime, have a good week everyone! xx
